OUR HISTORY

In 1956, Carl Arena Sr. purchased a small restaurant in Bushnell's Basin, Pittsford, NY. At the time, it served the local neighborhood and acted as the home for his off- premise catering business. As his business grew so did the banquet center. Over the course of the next 50 years, this small restaurant, mainly under the guise and leadership of Mr. Arena's two sons, Joe and Carl Arena, Jr., the Burgundy Basin evolved from a small pub into one of the Western New York's largest and most successful banquet facilities.

In 1976, Joe and Carl Jr. purchased the Burgundy Basin from their father and by 1977, they had put a major expansion on the facility and increased seating capacity by over 50%. In the early 1980's, expansions continued as they added an outdoor pavilion area and made internal improvements to the office and kitchen.

In 1982, they stopped providing off-premise catering and in 1987 they closed the restaurant side of the business down. Although the off premise catering and the restaurant had both been profitable and successful for many years, Joe and Carl wanted to concentrate on just one area of the business hosting the on-premise banquets and weddings.

The expansions continued as the business flourished. By the early 1990's, they had made their last expansion and increased the seating capacity by over 100%. Currently, the Burgundy Basin can seat anywhere from 25 to over 1200 guests.

The year 2006 represented 50 years of business for the Burgundy Basin and the torch was passed to the third Generation, Carl Arena and Michael Clarcq now proudly carry on the family tradition. We have committed ourselves to a business that is focused entirely on providing guests with high quality food and customer service, in a relaxing environment at an affordable price.
